Returns and refunds
Two different rights, and it is worth knowing which one you are using — they have different rules and different timings.
1. You changed your mind — seven days
You may cancel and send it back within seven days of receiving it. You do not have to give a reason, and there is no penalty. This is section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, and it applies to everything bought on this site.
- It must be unused, with its seal intact, in its packaging.
- You pay the postage to send it back (nothing to pay if you hand it back in person).
- We refund everything you paid us, including the original delivery charge, within 30 days of getting it.
The one thing that cannot come back this way is a spray that has been discharged, or a device that has been used. Once it is used it is not the item we sent, and no seven-day right covers that. Trying it out is not a fault — it just uses up the return.
2. Something is wrong with it — six months
Separately, and regardless of the seven days, the Consumer Protection Act gives you six months to return anything that is faulty, unsafe, or not what the page said it was.
- You choose: a repair, a replacement, or your money back. Not us.
- We pay the postage.
- It does not have to be unused. A spray that failed when you needed it is exactly the case this covers.
If a product on this site turns out not to work as we said it does, we want to know urgently — not because of the refund, but because somebody else is carrying the same one.
3. We could not supply it
If something you ordered turns out to be unavailable, we refund that part within 48 hours. You are not asked to wait for stock and you are not offered a credit you did not ask for.
How to start a return
The quickest way is the Request a return or refund button on your order page: it opens an email with your reference and what you bought already filled in.
-
Email orders@i-lead.org.za with
your order reference — it is on your confirmation
email, and it looks like
IL-260920-ABCDE. - Tell us which of the three above applies, and what happened.
- We reply with where to send it — or, if you collected in person, when and where to hand it back. Do not post anything back before that — a parcel arriving with no reference attached is a parcel we cannot match to a refund.
- Once it arrives we refund to the card or account you paid from. It cannot go anywhere else; that is a property of how the payment gateway works, and it is a good one.
Timing, plainly
| Changed your mind | Something is wrong | |
|---|---|---|
| How long | 7 days from delivery | 6 months from delivery |
| Reason needed | No | Yes — tell us what it is |
| Must be unused | Yes | No |
| Who pays postage | You (free if handed back in person) | Us |
| Delivery refunded | Yes | Yes |
Nothing on this page limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Where they say something different, they win.
